Celadon Glaze (by satschin_mi)
“Koreans of the Goryeo period (918-1392) prized their celadon and referred to its color as bisaek (bluish green). the Korean celadon was also highly regarded by Chinese connoisseurs of the Song period (960-1279). The color of Goryeo celadon results from the compositions of both the clay and the glaze and also the firing process. The color is at its most refined in the 12th century. Celadon from this period has a smooth surface with no crackles and a rich, beautiful glaze. An example of this type is the melon shaped vase from the tomb of King Injong.”
